Terms of Use
Local Haunts, operated by Legendarily Imperfect, LLC. Effective and last updated 8 October 2026.
1. Accepting These Terms
Using Local Haunts means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use the app.
2. Where It Is Available
Local Haunts is sold in the United States, and is opening in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Restaurant data comes from Google and its coverage varies by place. Prices are shown in your store's currency and are set by Apple and Google from our US price.
3. What The Service Is
Local Haunts helps you find independent restaurants near you. It is a discovery tool. It is not a reservation platform, a review site, or a social network, and it does not sell food.
Restaurant information — names, addresses, hours, ratings and photos — comes from the Google Places API. It can be wrong, out of date, or missing. Check before you drive somewhere. We do not own that data and cannot correct it at source.
4. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself.
- Saving places works without an account. An account is what keeps them on more than one device.
- You can delete your account inside the app at any time, in Settings.
5. Pro, And What It Costs
Free
Search, filters, the map, unlimited saving, the Open Right Now sort, and vouching. Vouching is free and stays free.
Pro
Crowns, lists across your Caché, the Recommended and Rare Finds sorts, and the Neon Night style.
Prices
- Pro, yearly: $9.99 per year, renewing.
- Lifetime: a one-time purchase, limited to a batch of 1,000. The first 250 buyers pay $29.99 and are Founders; the rest of the batch pays $49.99. When the batch is gone, lifetime stops being offered and the yearly plan continues.
- There is no monthly plan.
Billing
- Purchases are billed by the App Store or Google Play, not by us.
- The yearly plan renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancelling keeps Pro until the period you paid for runs out.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Play Store account settings.
- A lifetime purchase is one charge and does not renew.
Founders
Founders get a badge, a name in the in-app credits, and early builds through the preview channel. Founders do not get ranking influence, and neither does anyone else. Every vouch and every crown counts the same regardless of what anyone paid.
Refunds
Apple and Google handle refunds under their own policies. We cannot process them. A refunded lifetime purchase releases the entitlement but does not return the number to the batch.
6. Vouches And Crowns
Vouches and crowns are honest signal or they are worth nothing, so:
- One vouch per place, per person. One crown per category.
- Do not use more than one account to push a place up, and do not vouch or crown on behalf of a business you own or work for.
- Rate limits and a minimum account age exist for this reason. We can remove signal we believe is manipulated, and close accounts that manufacture it.
7. Your Data
Your saved places and lists are yours. We hold them to provide the service. Deleting your account removes them permanently. The privacy policy has the detail.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for anything unlawful.
- Try to reach anyone else's account or data.
- Reverse engineer or decompile the app.
- Scrape it, or run bots against it.
- Resell or redistribute access to it.
- Extract the place data to build a competing directory. It is Google's, and their terms bind us both.
9. Intellectual Property
The app, its design, its code and its branding belong to Legendarily Imperfect, LLC. These terms grant you no ownership in it. Place information belongs to Google.
10. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is". We do not warrant that a restaurant is open, that its hours are right, that it is independent, or that you will like it. Chain filtering is automatic and imperfect in both directions.
Nothing here takes away a right your own consumer law gives you. Where those rights cannot be excluded, they apply and this section does not touch them. That includes the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act, and the equivalent protections in Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong.
11. Limitation Of Liability
To the extent the law allows, Legendarily Imperfect, LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Where your local consumer law does not allow that limit, it does not apply to you.
12. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, in particular one manufacturing signal.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app, and the date at the top will change.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you live somewhere whose law gives you rights that cannot be signed away, you keep them, and you can bring a claim in your own courts.
